Meditation is getting a great deal of publicity even from the conventional press. A recent article in the Independent called it ‘medicine for the mind’. As reports of it’s benefits for the body and the mind spread from the fringes into the mainstream there will be a greater demand for well-trained meditation teachers. To meet this need the Traditional Yoga Association offers two meditation courses.
The Basic Meditation Course
This course includes the Basic Course plus an advanced course covering the teaching of meditation in today’s world which is far removed in time and space from the origins of these teachings.
Teachers
Course: Five days on the teaching of meditation in a modern world far removed in time and space from the origins of these teachings.
The Meditation Teachers Course will cover:
- The origins of meditation in different cultures East and West “ its significance then and now.
- Three different techniques of meditation chosen because of their particular applicability today, as each can be adapted for use in a non-religious environment. Participants will have the opportunity to practice all three techniques during the Basic Course. The three techniques will come from the traditions of Yoga; Buddhist Vipassana; and Christian Mysticism.
- In addition, participants will learn about:
- Relaxation techniques, breathwork, mantra, prayer, visualization.
- The use of meditation in stress management.
- Different methods of teaching meditation and how to set up meditation classes.
