Certificated Cardiac Care Course for Yoga Teachers
Heart disease is still the number one killer in the Western world. Yoga, with its emphasis on movement of the body, stillness of the mind and evenness of the breath, has a great deal to offer both as a preventative and as a lifestyle management tool for those already suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, or atherosclerosis. This certificated course is open only to those who are already Yoga teachers and offers them an opportunity to specialise in a much needed field. It will cover the physiology of the cardiovascular system and the Yoga approach to maintaining its health and long life.
This course, designed specifically for those who are already certificated Yoga teachers, will enable participants not only to ensure that their general classes are safe for those suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure, etc., but also enable them to set up classes specifically for those suffering from heart disease or at risk due to diabetes or obesity.
The course will cover the following :
- Basic physiology and anatomy of the cardiovascular system.
- Appropriate movement and asana for people suffering from heart disease and related ailments.
- Aerobic movement, Yoga and heart care — working safely but effectively.
- Appropriate breathing techniques.
- Relaxation and visualization techniques.
- The heart in Yoga and its place in the whole person – body, mind and spirit.
- Setting up a class for cardiac care and communicating with GPs in your area about your class and whom it may be appropriate for.
Participants should come expecting hard work covering both theory and practice.
