With twin teenagers, a busy home and a career, Hema had little time to devote to herself. She decided to add Yoga to her schedule and see what this ancient philosophy from the land of her forefathers and mothers had to offer. She enrolled in a local class and quickly understood the importance of allowing the practice and philosophy of Yoga into daily life. She now teaches students of mixed ability and also runs pregnancy Yoga classes for mums-to-be. No matter how busy the class, Hema remains aware of each student and her soft melodious voice touches everyone. Hema also teaches Baby Massage and Yoga and Postnatal recovery classes.

“I had always wondered what Yoga was about so enrolled in a class. I found it made a big difference in my energy levels, which encouraged me to take up other forms of exercise and become more physically fit than I had been before. Yoga taught me more – to respect myself and all the work that I did and how not to hold on to tension in my body or my mind. My first experience with Yoga aroused my curiosity enough to draw me towards a teachers training course. I soon discovered that I enjoyed teaching and sharing the experience of Yoga. I appreciate how busy people's lives have become and I am able to pass on techniques that can be taken off the mat and out into daily life. Yoga then continues to be experienced not only by the practitioner, but by all of those they encounter – creating an ever-widening circle of peace and tranquillity. ”
