Teaches in : Caversham, Reading

Ami grew up in India surrounded by the warmth of family and immersed in the culture of Yoga, Ayurveda, ritual, diversity, light and colour. She finds that Yoga allows her to connect deeply to her past and her history, while also allowing her to form a bridge between the two worlds that make up her life now.

She is a former architect, now a mother of two, and has lived in the UK with her husband and daughters for 11 years, and in Reading, Berkshire for the last 5 years. She sees Yoga as her true calling and hopes to bring an honest and authentic voice to her work as a Yoga teacher. She is always aware that she is learning herself on this journey, as much as she is teaching and spreading her love for Yoga.

“It is difficult for me to find mere words to describe what Yoga really means to me. It is as if I am trying to describe what my breath or heartbeat mean to my being!! Yoga has been a part of my life ever since I can remember - my parents were seekers and my extended family practised various aspects of the Yogic tradition, so it was never too far to touch or access. India offered itself up to me with all its history and tradition and complexity, and for 28 years, I soaked it all in daily. I’ve been so fortunate to have travelled to the Himalayas often and bathed in the Ganges at its source, and walked along what must surely have been paths that the ancient yogis traversed in those ancient mountains.”

“At 18, after losing my mother very suddenly, I began to seek some answers to questions about meaning, death and life, and Yoga was the beacon that lit up a wonderful path of exploration, which goes on and on.”

“Studying with Swami Ambikananda and the Traditional Yoga Association has been a privilege. I am blessed to have the chance to offer myself up to the world through Yoga teaching.”

“I aim to offer movement, breath work and meditation classes in and around Caversham, Berkshire and a discount is offered to Fire Rescue services in my classes. I hope to deepen my work with private lessons and am curious to explore options. I am very excited to see where this path leads.”

“I hope to offer my students a safe, open, engaging environment, where they can begin to explore what Yoga is bringing to their journey, and I am honoured to be that conduit and catalyst who starts the change!”
